CEDAR HILL, Texas –August 28, 2009 – Millennium 3 Leadership Team 183 will be hosting volunteer days for The Therapeutic Riding of Texas (TROT) on August 29-30, 2009 to help improve the Gemini Farms facilities.
Millennium 3 LP183 will be raising money and materials to update the TROT barn and arena so it is equipped with the necessary items to operate during inclement weather. Current conditions limit the number of riders they can accommodate and help.
TROT is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving Dallas-Fort Worth area special-needs riders and is a Premier accredited therapeutic riding center through the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA). TROT’s nationally recognized therapeutic horsemanship curriculum includes safety, grooming, saddling, ground handling as well as riding.
TROT has provided recreational riding with therapeutic benefits for children and adults for more than 20 years. Riding improves muscle tone and strength, balance, posture, coordination, endurance, motor development and range of motion. In addition, the unique relationship formed with a horse often leads to higher levels of confidence, patience and self-esteem in riders with emotional or mental disabilities.
TROT is a non-profit organization with a 501c-3 status. Current funding comes from personal contributions and fund-raising activities. All donations are tax deductible.
To volunteer please come out to Gemini Farms, 1701 Duncanville Rd., Cedar Hill, TX 75104 or contact TROT at 972.293.3388. For more information visit www.TROTTX.org
We are Microsoft Charity Challenge Weekend Kick-Off event – January 16, 2009.
This event paired up web site developers who volunteered their weekend and charities that needed web site development done. TROT was lucky enough to be chosen as one of the participating charities and as a result we now have a beautiful new web site. Pictured from left to right is Toi Wright – event organizer, Jim McCann, Patricia Hogue, Bruce Weatherford and Chris Koenig from Microsoft.
TROT and the other participating charities received a basket full of free software and books to allow us to maintain our new website. A team of 5 guys from CBRE worked on our website pretty much non-stop from Friday evening until early Sunday afternoon. What they did in that amount of time is just amazing. Thanks so much to our fantastic team!
